The Market Assessment Unit (MAU) of EMC provides support to the Market Surveillance and Compliance Panel (MSCP). It monitors the Singapore Wholesale Electricity Market (SWEM) to ensure that the market is functioning efficiently, identifies areas of inefficiencies and recommends changes or remedial actions to address them.

The MAU also monitors the behaviour of market participants, the Market Support Services Licensee (MSSL), the Power System Operator (PSO), and EMC. In that capacity, the MAU supports and advises the independent MSCP on enforcement actions through its surveillance activities, and investigations of alleged rule breaches. All enforcement actions are administered by EMC at the direction of the MSCP.
