National Electricity Market of Singapore 20th Anniversary Gala Dinner

We celebrated the National Electricity Market of Singapore (NEMS) 20th Anniversary with 200 industry partners at the NEMS 20th Anniversary Gala Dinner, held on Friday, 27 October 2023 at W Singapore, Sentosa Cove. 

The dinner was organised in conjunction with the Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW) and recognised the milestones in the market over the last two decades. We were honoured to have Dr Tan See Leng, Minister for Manpower & Second Minister for Trade and Industry, gracing the occasion.

The evening began with a cocktail reception followed by a welcome address by Dr Tan. Dr Tan highlighted the importance of a resilient and reliable electricity market and acknowledged the good work done by the industry. He also thanked Energy Market Company (EMC) for ensuring that the market policies and regulatory frameworks were well implemented and urged the market to work together to meet the challenges of the energy transition.

Thereafter, our Chairman, Ms Agnes Koh presented Dr Tan with the NEMS 20th anniversary commemorative book. The book highlights the key milestones over the last 20 years from the perspective of colleagues from the EMC and Energy Market Authority.

For the highlight of the night, we invited a total of 15 distinguished guests to join Dr Tan and Ms Koh on stage to launch the NEMS into the next 20 years. Most of the guests who were invited on stage have been in the industry since the very beginning, when the NEMS wholesale market started trading in 2003.


Over the last 20 years, the NEMS witnessed several key milestones and its development is a testament of how the market has grown efficient, transparent and successful.
