EMC’s Business Continuity Preparedness Exercises and Plans
Every year, EMC conducts several of business continuity preparedness (BCP) exercises to ensure that staff are well-prepared should a crisis occur. The following exercises were completed as part of our workplan for the financial year 2023/2024:

Disaster Recovery Preparedness Exercises |

- Switchover and switchback of the NEMS systems between primary and backup site.

Exercise Epsilon/ EMC Call Tree Activation |
November 2023 |
- As part of the industry-wide Exercise Epsilon, EMC management team and identified personnel had to report to the office within the pre-specified timeframe.
- All staff were alerted of the Exercise through their mobile phones.

Exercise Thunderbolt |
January 2024 |
- Staff were evacuated from the office and reported at the designated assembly area to simulate an emergency situation.

BCP Site Readiness Test |
March 2024 |
- Recovery teams worked from an alternate office site.
- Identified personnel worked from home using a loaned laptop.

Home Quarantine Order Exercise |
April 2024 |
- Recovery team members tested their critical business functions operations while working from home.

Desktop Scenario Test |
May 2024 |
- Crisis Management Team, business units’ BCP representatives, Damage Assessment and Facility Restoration team and departmental fire wardens were involved.
- Desktop exercise was conducted to test the robustness of the business unit’s incident response plans and business continuity procedures.

Note: Exercise Jaguar , the industry-wide BCP exercise, is scheduled to be conducted in July 2024. This is an exercise to practise the coordinated response of the energy industry in the management of major power and gas system crisis, as well as cybersecurity-attacks.
